A "quiet photograph" from my portfolio Bread Loaf Seasons for Middlebury College. I made this photo with the pocket-sized Fujifilm X100s, one of my all-time favorite cameras.

One of the last sheets of 4x5 Fujichrome Velvia 50 I shot was this frame of a autumn maple tree on the north side of Painter Hall on the Middlebury College campus. Velvia had an absolutely bonkers saturation curve, so shadows on the north side of buildings would go deep blue while warm tones stayed warm.
